The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office has released new information in the crash that killed US Rep. Jackie Walorski and three others. They said the preliminary information released was incorrect.
After reviewing evidence at the scene, eyewitness and video evidence, they learned the initial information they provided was not correct.
Deputies say evidence confirms Edith Schmucker's Buick LaSabre was southbound on SR 19 south of SR 119 and the Toyota RAV4 driven by Zachery Potts was northbound.
Initial reports said Schumcker was traveling northbound and the Potts was traveling southbound.
Deputies said the RAV4 crossed the centerline for reasons that are unknown and the two vehicles collided.
All occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts. Airbags did deploy.
The investigation is ongoing.
