Shipshewana woman finds escaped convict's stolen vehicle in yard

SHIPSHEWANA, Ind. -- A Shipshewana woman noticed a strange car parked in her yard but didn't think anything about it until she realized it fit the description of the vehicle escaped killer Michael Elliot was allegedly driving.

Ashley Green then called police.

"It freaked me out," says Green.  "I was like this can't be the vehicle in my side yard."

Police say it was parked in the yard, almost to hide it from street view.

Green called 911, which caused the town of Shipshewana to shut down.

Police went from home to home Monday in search of the suspect.

They called off the search and said the town was clear about 5:00 p.m. Monday evening.

Elliot was later arrested in LaPorte County Indiana.
