Single vehicle crash leaves two injured in Starke County

STARKE COUNTY, Ind. -- Deputies with the Starke County Sheriff's Office responded to S.R. 39 and 200 south in reference to a single vehicle crash with injuries at approximately 1:49 p.m. on Tuesday.  

A witness reported seeing a 2010 white Chevrolet Equinox traveling northbound at approximately 75 miles per hour.

The vehicle reportedly was swerving, ran off the roadway, and hit a tree. 

Deputies arrived and observed the vehicle had traveled approximately 337 feet prior to striking the tree. Both occupants of the vehicle had to be extricated from the vehicle.

The driver, a 59-year-old male of Illinois and his passenger, a 53-year-old female of Oklahoma, were both transported to a local hospital for injuries. 

The North Judson Police Department, North Judson Fire Department, Starke County EMS, Lutheran Air, and Collison Towing assisted te Starke County Sheriff's Office. 

This incident remains under investigation.
