SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- All players are welcome at the Greater New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Chruch in South Bend to learn a new game.
The Pastor for the Church tells ABC57, the chess club itself was created to get young folks interested in chess, offering them an outlet by learning a new game, making new friends, finding mentors, and connecting with the community.
"We got so many young people nowadays always thinking about negative stuff, about stuff that that's not going to help them grow, not going to help them learn anything. And we need to teach them something that's positive, and we need to get their mind thinking right, because chess is a thinking game," stated Senior Pastor at Greater New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church Lonell Hudson.
The chess club meets every Monday night from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
