South Bend closes most city offices to walk-in traffic

The City of South Bend has closed most of its offices to walk-in traffic. The city will still assist residents remotely - by phone, email or via the website.

The South Bend utility office at 125 W. Colfax Avenue is closed to the public, but is still accepting payments at the drive-thru and drop box.

The Building Department at 125 S. Lafayette St. is also not open for walk-ins but is accepting drop-off services for needs requiring immediate processing. Residents are asked to call 574-235-9554 ext. 2 with questions.

The South Bend Police Department lobby will remain open to the public, but with shortened hours. The front desk and records divisions will be open to walk-ins Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Staff will also be available to take reports over the phone from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays.

Residents can still access City services remotely by calling 311 or visiting the city's website
