South Bend Common Council seems ready to fill Community Police Review Board

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- After years of waiting, the South Bend Common Council seems ready to finally fill the Community Police Review Board as on Monday, the council will review 13 nominees to fill the nine-member board for the first time since it was approved in October 2020.

Formed in response to the death of Eric Logan, who was shot and killed by a South Bend Police Officer, the review board is meant to build more trust and accountability between police and the public by having members review police misconduct, conduct their own investigations, and make recommendations for discipline.

Charles King III took over as the Board Director in May 2023.
