SOUTH BEND, Ind.— The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic isn’t keeping South Bend’s minor league baseball team from hosting an opening day.
To comply with social distancing measures from the CDC and state regulations, the South Bend Cubs are holding their upcoming opening day online.
The virtual opening day will take place on the team’s Facebook page as a live broadcast starting at 12 p.m. on April 9.
Footage from Game 3 of the Midwest League Championship will be played during the broadcast.
The three hour planned broadcast will include special interviews, a ceremonial first pitch, the National Anthem, Stu and Swoop, and more.
A fireworks show will also be a part of the festivities.
