SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- A South Bend family is asking question after their two year old daughter came come with a gash on her face. The family says they were not notified by Growing Hands Learning Center on Ireland Road about the injury.
The daycare claims that the injury happened when the child hit a door frame when she fell while being dropped off by her mother.
“The daycare basically was like, this happened in mom’s care so we didn’t do anything,” said Vernado Malone, the child’s grandfather.
Malone claims that there were no signs of injury when the mother checked on the child after she fell. Malone also says an employee at Growing Hands told him that she saw his granddaughter fall but did not see any signs of injury when she examined the child.
“She said she’d seen it but she didn’t notice any marks on her,” said Malone. “She’d just seen it.”
Malone says he wants to know why the family wasn’t notified when the daycare noticed the injury was worse. ABC 57 reached out to Growing Hands for comment but they declined citing concerns over confidentiality.
