Frigid, snowy conditions start tonight
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Martin Luther King Jr. Day is coming up on January 15 and South Bend will have several events across town to honor the civil rights leader.
Members of the planning committee gathered to share their plans and excitement with the community.
Gladys Muhammad, Chair of the Martin Luther King Jr. Planning Committee, stated, "It's an important day and it will always be an important day. The message is the important thing, whether we are here physically or not. The message is of freedom, of justice and equality, of responsibility, of commitment and concern, so that we can have a quality of life in our cities or neighborhoods in our country. That's what it's about."
This year's main event is the "2024 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast Celebration", which will be held at the Century Center on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The event will also include workshops, musical presentations, children's activities, and much more.
