SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The South Bend International Airport wants to make it easier, and safer, to rent a car.
SBN is planning a new, consolidated space for existing car rental agencies at the airport. It's meant to address safety and logistics concerns by eliminating traffic at the terminal, making it safer for pedestrians and drivers.
Tuesday, the St. Joseph County Council will consider approving roughly $6.7 million worth of airport bonds for the project.
The airports VP of Marketing, Julie Curtis, tells ABC57 the bonds will help SBN receive a better rate for financing, but the actual cost of the project will be covered by a Customer Facility Charge paid for by rental car users.
