South Bend man gets 17 years in prison for pointing rifle at police

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A judge sentenced a man to 17 years in prison on Wednesday for pointing an assault rifle at South Bend police.
Eugene Sims, Jr. pleaded guilty to felony charges.
He admitted he pulled a gun on officers in December.
Police then shot him in the arm.
The judge also ordered that Sims’ rifle be destroyed.
