South Bend man sentenced to 51 months for being felon in possession of firearms

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – A South Bend man was sentenced to 51 months in prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.

In April 2021, 24-year-old Steven Polito was in possession of multiple firearms after having been previously convicted of a felony, according to case documents.

One of those firearms was a semi-automatic capable of accepting a high-capacity magazine, according to reports.

Polito was sentenced to 51 months in prison followed by one year of supervised release, reports said.
