South Bend man sentenced to three years for being felon in possession of a firearm

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A South Bend man was sentenced to three years after a jury found him guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Xavier Zebulon Marzette, 39, was sentenced to three years in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

In September 2019, officers with the South Bend Police Department were called to an alleged disturbance at an apartment complex and were told some of the people at the complex were armed.

Officers stopped a vehicle that was leaving the complex and found a loaded 9mm handgun inside.

Police found Marzette's DNA on the trigger of the gun, according to reports.
