SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The City of South Bend is holding an art contest during April to raise awareness about stormwater and water quality, with $250 available for chosen artists.

The Storm Drain Art Contest is open to artists of age 18 or older as of Wednesday and will continue until Thursday, Apr. 30. It involves submitting designs for painting murals around storm drains.

The selected designs will be painted around storm drains in downtown South Bend on Michigan Street between Colfax Avenue and Wayne Street.

The winning designs will be announced during the week of May 4 and then painted between May 30 and June 5 in time for June's First Fridays event.
