South Bend police, fire appreciation day

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- When police officers and firefighters get together, it is normally because of an emergency situation.

But on Friday, they were in one spot where they could relax and swap stories.

Friday was the 15th Annual Police-Fire Appreciation Day.

Some met early this morning for a breakfast and they say it is a great time to be together.

"For us to be able to come in here and serve our guys it just makes you feel really good; lets them know that we appreciate them and the community appreciates them," said Sheriff Michael Grzegorek.

And it was not just breakfast, some met for lunch and the second-shifters are meeting for dinner.
