South Bend Police investigating shooting on S. Walnut St.
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.—The South Bend Police Investigative Bureau is investigating a shooting that happened on Sunday morning on S. Walnut St.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting on Sunday around 4:30 p.m. in the 400 block of S. Walnut St.
The 17-year-old male victim had non-life threatening graze wounds to the arm and side. He was treated and released from the hospital.
During their initial investigation, officers discovered that the victim and his friends were walking near the park when they were approached by two unknown black males who were asking questions.
Police said that one of the two males then pulled out a gun, began shooting at the group and hit the victim.
The suspect and another male left the area in a black Chevrolet Impala.
The suspect is described as a black male, possibly in his late teens with a skinny build. The suspect was wearing all black clothes and shoes.
The other male involved in the incident is described as a black male, also possibly in his late teens with braided hair. He was also wearing all black.
