South Bend resident arrested for alleged drug dealing

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – A South Bend man was arrested Thursday after police found evidence of drug dealing and drug possession at a residence in the city, the Indiana State Police reported.

Months ago, troopers began an investigation into suspected drug dealing after receiving complaints from citizens.

The investigation led troopers to perform a search warrant at a residence in the 500 block of S. Chicago Street in South Bend at around 6 a.m. Thursday morning.

The search warrant led to the discovery of approximately 44 grams of suspected fentanyl, 150 grams of suspected marijuana, 133 grams of suspected cocaine, U.S. money, and drug paraphernalia., reports said.

64-year-old Elijah Hurmon is facing charges for the following, troopers said:

  • Possession of cocaine
  • Possession of cocaine or narcotic drug
  • Dealing cocaine
  • Dealing cocaine or narcotic drug

Hurmon is being held at the St. Joseph County Jail.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case for all appropriate charges.
