Free lead testing Thursday for students at Madison STEAM Academy

SOUTH BEND, Ind.—The City of South Bend and the St. Joseph County Health Department will provide free lead screenings for students at Madison STEAM Academy on January 10 from 3:30-6:30 p.m.

In partnership with South Bend Community School Corporation and South Bend Medical Foundation, free lead screening will be available for any child one to six years old.

The testing will be done at the same time as parent-teacher conferences at Madison STEAM Academy.

Students don't have to attend the school to get tested.

A blood test is used to identify lead poisoning.

A press conference will be held at noon on January 8 at the school to discuss the event.
