SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Student athletes of the Kiwanis Club were honored Thursday with awards named after the legendary basketball coach, John Wooden.
The Kiwanis Club of South Bend hosted the annual Nelli and John Wooden Grand Kiwanis Athletic awards.
At the ceremony, scholarly athletes from five South Bend high schools were honored.
The best female and male seniors were selected from each location.
“I'm really happy with um former wrestling coach Mr. Dale was the one who presented the award at the school for wrestling. And I'm really happy he was here today and a part of the committee who was actually able to select me for the bigger award," said Harry Tucker, award recipient.
John Wooden is known for coaching at Indiana State and UCLA, as well as playing at Purdue.
