South Bend thrive special reception celebrating 54 new affordable homes October 21

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — South Bend Heritage (SBH) will host a special reception for SB Thrive on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at 3351 McKinley Ave., South Bend, to celebrate the opening of 54 new affordable housing units.

The event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, casual lunch, and guided home tours from noon to 2 p.m. Invited guests and media will have the chance to explore the development, which aims to support families of various sizes and needs. Representatives from the South Bend City Council, the Department of Community Investment, and the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) are expected to be available for media interviews.

SB Thrive features a range of one- to four-bedroom homes, including six ADA-accessible units, to ensure inclusivity and accessibility. The $15.1 million development is the largest in SBH’s history and marks a significant milestone in the organization’s efforts to strengthen South Bend neighborhoods and provide quality, affordable housing for local families.
