BREAKING: South Bend train crossing closed due to unoccupied vehicle on tracks

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The South Bend Police Department is reporting the railroad crossing at Grandview Avenue is currently closed after a freight train struck an unoccupied vehicle on the tracks Friday evening. 

The crossing is located between Ardmore Trail and Linden Avenue and he driver was reportedly waiting for a tow when the vehicle was hit.

No injuries have been reported.

The crossing is expected to be closed until midnight, as the crossing arm needs to be replaced. The Meade Street remains open.
