South Haven nurse found guilty of second-degree murder

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. - Judith Sobol, the South Haven nurse who was accused of being high on meth while caring for a home care patient who later died, was found guilty of second-degree murder, according to reports.

According to court documents, Sobol admitting to injecting and smoking methamphetamine before going to work on June 20, 2022.

During her shift, the patient she was caring for, three-year-old Ophelia Mazure, was found unresponsive and with her trachea tub disconnected, reports said.

Sobol faces up to life in prison.

Her sentencing is scheduled for April 24.
