South Shore Service issues updates for passengers attending Lollapalooza

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The South Shore Line train service issued updates on Thursday regarding its transit schedule which will accommodate passengers attending Lollapalooza.

The following updates will take effect from August 1 through August 4:

Thursday & Friday:

  • Alcohol will not be permitted on South Shore trains after 7 p.m. Please be advised that glass bottles are always prohibited.

Saturday & Sunday:

  • Westbound Train 606 and Train 506 will operate Extras for additional capacity to accommodate passengers heading to Chicago in the morning. Train 606 and Train 506 and their Extras will make all regular stops to Chicago.
  • An Extra eastbound train will depart Millennium Station at 6:00 p.m. (Van Buren St. at 6:03 p.m.), run non-stop to Hegewisch and make all local stops terminating at Carroll Avenue, Michigan City. The eastbound Extra will not serve Hudson Lake or South Bend.
  • An Extra eastbound train will depart Millennium Station at 10:00 p.m. (Van Buren St. at 10:03 p.m.), run non-stop to Hegewisch and make all local stops terminating at Carroll Avenue, Michigan City. The eastbound Extra will not serve Hudson Lake or South Bend.
  • Millennium Station ticket agent hours will be extended until 6:30 p.m.
  • Alcohol will not be permitted on South Shore trains all day Saturday/Sunday. Please be advised that glass bottles are always prohibited.

South Shore Line says that during special events, passengers can expect crowded conditions on the train as well as a greater presence of NICTD Transit Police.

Bikes will not be permitted on the South Shore train during this period.

Disorderly conduct will not be tolerated by South Shore Line and disruptive passengers will be removed.
