In just the second meeting between Notre Dame and Michigan State men's hoops since 1979, the two teams entered ranked in the top five nationally.
It was the home team who came out firing, as the No. 3 Spartans used an early run to take control. Despite a second-half fight, the No. 5 Irish fell 81-63 for their first loss of the season.
