Start-Up Weekend hopes to empower business start-ups

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Dozens of people attended the Start-Up Weekend at the former A.J. Wright building on Saturday.

The grassroots movement  hopes to empower potential business owners.

Local leaders hope the seminars held over the weekend will change Michiana for the better.

“With Ignition Park starting, Innovation Park over at Notre Dame and the Metronet, South Bend has the opportunity to do whatever we want to do,” said event co-organizer Grant Carlile. “We just need people to step up and follow their dream.”

Those hoping to create a start-up will work with others at the seminar to bring their idea to life.

They will make a final presentation on their idea at the end of the weekend.

Start-Up is sponsored by Notre Dame and the Kauffman Foundation.
