CASSOPOLIS, Mich. -- The newly drawn 17th and 20th Michigan State Senate primaries both have incumbents running to keep their seats in Lansing.
In the 17th District, Republican incumbent Kim LaSata of Niles, who has support from former Michigan Governor John Engler, is being challenged by Johnathan Lindsey of Bronson, who has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump.
Aric Nesbitt of Lawton has served as a state Senator since 2019 and is the incumbent in Michigan's new 20th District, where he faces off against Austin Kreutz of Allegan and Kaleb Hudson of Grand Rapids.
This is the first election since the new redistricting maps were put into effect in Michigan after the 2020 U.S. Census count.
