BENTON HARBOR, Mich --After four days and 72 holes, 50-year-old Steven Alker from New Zealand won the 2022 Senior PGA Championship at Harbor Shores .
“I got a nice start. Made some nice putts. I just kind of did everything right today,” Alker said.
Alker came in the PGA Championship competing in the tournament and on the Harbor Shores course for the first time.
Going 16 under par (-16) and 8 under par (-8) in the fourth round, matching the lowest final round by a winner.
“Ultimately for me, to be out here and challenging the golf tournaments, it’s not better feeling than winning,” Alker said.
After the win, Alker soaked in the moment, eyeing the names of previous winners on the trophy and looking to be back at Harbor Shores in 2024.
“Just very honored. It’s an amazing trophy, you see the names and you kind of choke up a little bit,” Alker said.
