Stolen Sandy Hook memorial sign returned

Thursday night the stolen Sandy Hook memorial sign has been returned to the Connecticut town.

Virginia officers personally delivered the signs stolen from playgrounds built for victims Grace McDonnell in mystic, and Chase Kowalski in New Jersey.

Detectives in Connecticut tracked down the signs through police work online and on the ground.

"This is probably one of the best examples of how we can work together with the media and other police departments that I have seen in my 28 years here in the department," said Sgt. Dave Knowles of the Stonington Police.

A 28 year old man was arrested and, according to police, admitted to taking the signs.

The investigation is still ongoing tonight so it's not clear why those signs were taken.
