MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- As we continue to track severe weather throughout Michiana widespread flooding is a concern. Many roads in Mishawaka were underwater after Monday's storms and that has some folks worried about their basements!
This summer Michiana has already seen a steady pattern of rain activity and some homeowners have had to continually check their sump pumps to prevent their basements from flooding.
While it isn’t entirely preventable clearing and keeping debris from sewers and downspouts on the road are the best ways to ensure homes and driveways stay as clear as possible.
“Well for me in my house I always think about are my gutters working is the water getting drained quickly enough away from the foundation of my house so that my sump pump doesn’t have to work too hard," said Rob Kelly, a Mishawaka resident.
