MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Some Elm Road Elementary kindergarten students got a tour of the Penn Township fire station - and got a lesson in fire safety.
“It’s all about hands on, especially in kindergarten. Elm Road Schools also is going to be part of a STEM academy next year so we do a lot of hands on and it really doesn’t mean anything unless you get the kids there and involved," said teacher Tami Portolese.
The students got a chance to try on firefighter uniforms, look inside the trucks, spray a fire hose and jump around the fire dog bounce house.
