MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- Students and teachers volunteered to cut inches off of their hair at Grissom Middle School on Tuesday.
The event called, "Short Hair Because We Care", was started by Grissom Middle School students in 2019.
All hair is donated to an organization called Children with Hair Loss, helping children who might not be able to grow hair.
A local salon, Salon Nouveau, volunteered to cut students' hair at Grissom during a basketball game.
The group chose Children with Hair Loss because the organization gives free wigs to children and the hair that is donated can be dyed.
In 2019, there were 12 people who donated their hair.
On Tuesday, at least 15 people committed to cutting their hair for the cause, including 2 teachers.
