SOUTH BEND, IND -- Sun glare has been blamed for two accidents in two days in Michiana. One Monday in Berrien county and the other Tuesday in Elkhart county, involving a car and child on a bicycle.
Drivers should use extra caution in the morning and evening around the equinox in the spring and summer. This time of year is when the sun is nearly in line with the east-west axis of many roads in the area. The two weeks around the equinox are the most difficult in the morning especially because sunrise is during rush hour between 7:00 and 8:00 AM.
