LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. – A suspect has been arrested following a threat that caused a lockout for New Prairie Middle School on Friday.

A student allegedly received a text message on Friday that threatened the safety of the school and students, according to police.

New Prairie’s Resource Officer Deputy Paul Adams investigated the threat further on Saturday.

Adams interviewed a suspect based on information collected in the investigation Saturday morning.

Information led to the arrest of a 13-year-old female student of New Prairie Middle School for intimidation, police say.

The investigation by Officer Adams is ongoing and the middle school will return to a normal schedule on Monday.
