Suspect sentenced in shooting at UP Mall in May 2021

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- One of the people charged in the shooting of Shaqkil Cotton at the University Park Mall in May 2021 has been sentenced.
Luke Murphy pleaded guilty to battery and criminal recklessness and the attempted murder charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Murphy was sentenced to 3 years in prison on the battery charge and one year in prison with one year suspended for the criminal recklessness charge.
Charges against the other man charged in the case were dismissed. He had been charged with assisting a criminal.
