Teens may soon need a prescription to use tanning beds

Rhode Island could be on its way to setting a new national trend when it comes to tanning beds.

The state's Senate passed a bill requiring minors to get a doctor's prescription to go tanning. The bill must now make it through the Rhode Island house.

Teens say they should be able to make the choice themselves. Some parents say they're not old enough to decide.

If the House also passes the bill it will just need the governor's signature. Eighteen states are considering placing new laws on tanning facilities.
