Third Street in Niles closing Monday for intersection rebuilding

NILES, Mich. -- The Michigan Department of Transportation will be closing Third Street, south of U.S. 12, as a part of the next phase of intersection rebuilding begins.

The closure, from U.S. 12 to Bell Road, is expected to last for four weeks as crews will be working to rebuild the south half of the U.S. 12 and Third Street intersection.

The rebuilding is a part of a $27 million investment to rebuild the U.S. 12 and M51 intersection, along with rebuilding one mile of U.S.  12 and 2.7 miles of M51.

The investment is expected to support 383 jobs.
