Thousands of Michiana residents remain without power following Thursday storms

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Thousands of Michiana residents are still without power Friday morning following Thursday night's severe weather.

Thousands of Indiana Michigan Power customers are part of the remaining outage numbers. Crews are currently working to restore service.

I&M is utilizing drone technology to assist with damage assessment and is calling on additional resources from its sister companies as needed.

The peak outage number for I&M customers was about 62,000.

The following numbers are accurate as of 11 a.m.

INDIANA:

  • Elkhart County: 34,681
  • St. Joseph County: 7,759
  • LaGrange County: 4,949
  • Starke County: 3,282
  • La Porte County: 2,251
  • Marshall County: 1,199

MICHIGAN:

  • Berrien County: 959
  • Cass County: 2,952
