Train hits and kills woman on tracks in Stevensville

            STEVENSVILLE, Mich. -- A conductor tried to stop, but couldn't. Now a 25-year-old woman is dead.
The Lincoln Charter Township Police Department said that 25-year-old Jessica Smith was lying across the railroad tracks early on Wednesday morning when a freight train hit the woman.
The train sounded its whistle, but Smith did not move.
Police told us they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
