Train hits vehicle near Bendix Drive

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The St. Joseph County police have confirm that a South Shore train hit a vehicle just after 8:00 pm Thursday near Ardmore Trail and Bendix Drive in South Bend.
Four people, a man, a woman, and two children between the ages of 9 and 12 years, were in the vehicle at the time of the collision.
The man, who was the driver, took off and fled the scene of the accident leaving the woman and children remaining in the car.
One train passenger requested to be checked out by paramedics, but there are no other injuries.
Police are looking for the driver of the vehicle to question him.
The driver is African-American, wearing a white t-shirt and sweatpants and is believed to be in his thirties.
