Transpo to pick developer for downtown property Tuesday
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- On Tuesday, the South Bend Public Transportation Corporation's Board of Directors will decide between three options for the property at 901 Northside Boulevard in downtown near Howard Park.
The ten-acre property is the site of the former headquarters of Transpo.
The three developers are Century Builders, Matthews LLC and Place Group. You can view their proposals here.
They all have different ways of bringing housing, fun and charm to that area of downtown.
"Two plans. We have the first plan that we put forward at Transpo's request to buy the property and develop it into a mixed neighborhood. So we have housing from $100,000 all the way up to the multi millions. From 800 square foot condos to 1200 square foot townhomes to 5000 square foot townhomes and single family detached homes. So it's really about getting a mix of family homes in the neighborhood so that you can, whether you're young, old, rich or poor, you can find a place to live in this community," said David Matthews of Matthews LLC.
The decision will be made around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
