La Porte County Jail / Starke County Jail STARKE COUNTY, Ind. -- The Starke County Sheriff's Office announced two arrests Wednesday related to a February Knox farm theft.
Tony Call, a 37-year-old man of La Porte, was arrested on Monday on an outstanding theft warrant in La Porte County, and he was then charged with Burglary as a Level 5 Felony and Theft as a Level 6 Felony in Starke County that same day.
Alex Chambers, a 36-year-old man of Knox, was arrested on Wednesday and is being held in the Starke County Jail on preliminary narcotics and firearms charges.
On Friday, Feb. 20, a Starke County Sheriff's Deputy responded to a report of a theft at a farm in the 3000 East block of 200 North in Knox.
According to the investigation, the deputy found security footage and determined that an unknown suspect entered the farm's shop building, taking tools with him. The footage further led to a suspect vehicle.
That vehicle was allegedly traced to Call, who had an active warrant for theft in La Porte County. His vehicle was discovered on Tuesday, Mar. 3, though Call was not with the vehicle.
After obtaining a search warrant, detectives found unspecified evidence "related to the theft" in the vehicle.
On Monday, La Porte County detectives took Call into custody and alerted the Starke County Sheriff's Office. Starke County detectives then interviewed Call, and he allegedly provided information on a possible location where more stolen tools from the farm could be found.
On Wednesday, deputies then executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1700 North block of 300 East in Knox, where several of the stolen tools were allegedly found, alongside suspected methamphetamine and an illegal firearm.
Chambers was allegedly at the residence and taken into custody.
Call's bond has been set at $10,000.
