Two overdose deaths reported this weekend in La Porte County
LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- Two people died and a third person was revived in three different overdose incidents over the weekend, according to the La Porte County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office and the La Porte County Drug Task Force are investigating the incidents.
Investigators with the drug task force are following leads in all three cases and believe two of the cases may be related.
Mark Laskarin, 30, was found unresponsive in a bedroom of a residence in the 900 block of Second Street in Union Mills, Indiana at approximately 10:00 AM Saturday August 5th. Laskarin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Annette Leden, 36, was found unresponsive in a vehicle and taken to a home in the 300 block of Legion Road in Wanatah, Indiana at approximately 10:00 PM Saturday August 5th. She was revived with the use of Narcan that was administered by La Porte County Emergency Medical Service and transported to Porter Regional Hospital in stable condition.
Robert Goldstein, 29, was found unresponsive in a bedroom of a residence in the 13000 S block of CR 400 W in Hanna, Indiana at approximately 9:00 AM Sunday August 6th. Goldstein was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Our narcotics investigators are working diligently to reduce the amount of drugs flowing into La Porte County and they have had considerable success. Despite their efforts it is frustrating when we see people losing their lives to the addictions they battle. We encourage others who face these same struggles will seek help at every opportunity," said Sheriff John Boyd.
