SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Deacon Barnes and Deacon Monnin were ordained today at St. Matthew's Cathedral in South Bend. The ordination is seen as special calling from God as the journey through seminary and a preparation to serve as shepherds in the Church of Christ.
The two men were baptized at St. Matthews and are from South Bend adding a significance to their ordination in the church. As priest they are one with Christ and act in his person administering sacraments and preforming rituals. The role of priests is emphasized as essential for the preaching of the gospel and the teaching of the faith.
