Two-vehicle crash lands one in the hospital and incarcerated

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – On Saturday night, Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash on County Road 16 and County Road 3, ending in one being arrested and transported to the hospital.

Joseph Comeau of Elkhart was traveling eastbound on County Road 16 and ran off the road striking a mailbox and an AEP utility pole.

An Elkhart man was traveling behind Comeau, and struck the downed wires from the utility pole, causing damage to the windshield of the vehicle.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, Comeau was transported to Elkhart General Hospital to be treated for a laceration to the head and left foot.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office said Comeau was incarcerated at the Elkhart County Jail and was charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
