WALKERTON, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office reports police responded to a two-vehicle crash on US 6 near Poplar Road in Walkerton around 11:55 a.m., Thursday.

The report states the crash involved an SUV and a passenger vehicle.

Officers arrived to find the driver of the passenger vehicle, 44-year-old William Dankert IV of La Porte, dead at the scene.

The St. Joseph County Fatat Crash Team was subsequently activated.

Investigators say witnesses reported seeing the SUV, driven by 28-year-old Kyle Austin Seals of Walkerton, swerving while traveling east on US 6 before the crash.

The report states Seals traveled left of center before striking Dankert.

Seals suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Seals consented to a blood draw which will be analyzed at the Indiana State Department of Toxicology.

The investigation is ongoing.
