Two-vehicle crash sends three to the hospital in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, Mich. – A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of M-51 and M-152 sends three people to the hospital Saturday evening, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash took place just after 5:30 pm.

The initial investigation reveals that a Chevrolet Sonic, driven by a 32-year-old Dowagiac woman, was traveling east on M-152. She allegedly pulled out in front of a Ford pickup truck heading east on M-51, according to deputies.

Deputies say the driver of the pickup, a 51-year-old Gobles man, was allegedly unable to stop and crashed into the side of her car, sending them both off the road.

The woman and her 15-year-old passenger had to be transported to a Kalamazoo hospital for their injuries. The driver of the pickup was not taken to the hospital, but a 71-year-old passenger was transported to a Dowagiac hospital for her injuries.

Everyone in the crash was wearing their seatbelts. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, deputies said.
