A unique Topgolf location is coming to Granger

 

GRANGER, Ind.—The old Golf Club of Granger is getting a transformation...again.

Blackthorn Operating Group CEO, Time Firestone, purchased the space located at 322 Toscana Boulevard in July 2017 and opened The Blarney Hole, which featured nine rooms with golf specific simulators.

“Typically, only 10 percent of the population plays golf and so for us we were basically only marketing to 10 percent of the population in St. Joseph County and surrounding areas. You really had to be a die-hard golfer to want to use the facility,” Firestone said.

Firestone decided to expand the indoor entertainment facility’s offerings to attract a larger variety of interests.

“We were looking for technology and a re-branding of the facility that could bring more to the entertainment opportunity than just golf and that’s what we’ve done,” Firestone said.

In December, the space will become Blackthorn Topgolf Swing Suite.                             

The new golf hangout is set to open on December 26 as a partner with the national entertainment business, Topgolf.

Typically, Topgolf facilities live within major metropolitan areas and allow customers to play full rounds of golf or access a driving range using a ball with a special tracking chip inside of it.

Blackthorn’s space will consist of six indoor Topgolf simulators that will allow customers to play golf games as well as hockey, zombie dodge-ball, basketball, and carnival games.

The simulators will be located in suites with capacities of up to eight people, which Firestone said could accommodate private events such as birthday parties and company outings.

Firestone said that each suite has received over $100,000 in renovations and upgrades.

The space will also feature a restaurant and bar, with menu items including burgers, wraps, beer, and wine, and their first ever cocktail menu.

Pricing starts at $60 per hour, per player to use a Swing Suite and tops off at $80 during peak hours.

Suite hours are Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 12 a.m., and Sunday 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Memberships are also available for the facility.
