UPDATE: Names of businesses coming to South Bend revealed
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Common council members officially voted Monday night in support of two multi-million dollar businesses to come to South Bend.
According to a South Bend Common Council member, AmeriPlex and Tire Rack will qualify for a five-year tax abatement for property in the Portage Prairie Development Complex on the city’s Northwest Side.
It's expected to bring about 62 new jobs to South Bend. According to Council member Henry Davis Jr., the vote shows that South Bend is still making progress by adding jobs while many are facing financial hardships.
American Superior Partners is the developer that was granted the 5-year tax abatement.
Council members predict the facility will act as a distribution hub for the area, bringing people in from Illinois, Michigan and other parts of Indiana.
