Upick strawberry season at Garwood Orchards opens on Saturday

LAPORTE, Ind. -- Starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Michiana residents can head out to Garwood’s Orchard in Laporte for the start of Upick strawberry season at 9 a.m. Central time.

It costs $5 per quart of strawberry’s picked, although there is a $20 spending minimum for families of six or more.

Wagons are available on the weekends free of charge to take families out to the strawberry fields, with the final wagon leaving at 5:15 p.m.

The next harvest will be cherries, which orchard officials expect to come in by late June.
