Vacant home catches fire in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. --- A vacant home in South Bend caught fire on South Bend's Southeast side on Tuesday.

The house is near the intersection of Indiana Avenue and High Street. Fire crews were called out after 6 p.m. to the scene, not too far from Riley High School and the Studebaker Golf Course.

Officials on the scene say it took less than an hour to get the flames under control. The house suffered major damage but thankfully, no one was inside at the time of the fire.

Crews closed off roads from the 600 to the 800 block of Indiana Avenue.

An investigation is underway into what could've started the fire in the vacant home.
